With the establishment of the Punjab Agricultural University in 1962, it became imperative to introduce the University students to the fundamentals of basic sciences and the humanities, thus advancing the frontiers of knowledge. The close inter-relations between the basic sciences and the applied sciences have added a new vigor to agricultural education.
Keeping in view the significance of basic Sciences for proper understanding and development of different areas of agriculture, animal husbandry and allied fields, a school of Basic Sciences and Humanities was conceived which subsequently was established as College of Basic Sciences and Humanities in Oct. 1965, Dr. A.S. Kahlon being the founder Dean of the College. As a key constituent of the University, the College of Basic Sciences and Humanities, since its inception has been striving to be a center of excellence for advanced studies in the various fields within its jurisdiction.
