BUDDING ENTREPRENEURS EXPLORE AGRIBUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES AT PAU'S NIDHI-TBI INITIATIVE
13-12-2024

Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana, through its School of Business Studies (SBS) and National Initiative for Developing and Harnessing Innovations - Technology Business Incubator (NIDHI-TBI), continues to support budding entrepreneurs in their journey toward agribusiness success. Two aspiring entrepreneurs, Mr. Saurav Kamboj and Mr. Parvinder Kumar, visited the campus to gain insights, network, and refine their innovative startup ideas.

Mr. Saurav Kamboj, a reverse migrant from Canada who spent seven years as a permanent resident, has returned to his roots in Punjab to establish a food processing venture. Inspired by the evolving agribusiness ecosystem, he seeks to process commodities like wheat, rice, and chili. Mr. Parvinder Kumar, from village Bajje Ke in Ferozepur, plans to explore ventures in vinegar, microbrewery, and mead production.

The SBS and NIDHI-TBI teams provided strategic guidance on business model design, product development, and operational planning. Detailed insights on product lines, retail industry dynamics, and collaboration with PAU-trained entrepreneurs were shared. Experts also emphasized the importance of forming common sales points for efficient distribution.

Dr. Ramandeep Singh, Principal Investigator of NIDHI-TBI and Director, SBS, encouraged the entrepreneurs by sharing knowledge about agribusiness models, innovative ventures, and value-added product opportunities. He provided information about relevant training programs at PAU's Skill Development Centre to further strengthen their capabilities.

During their visit, the entrepreneurs also attended a lecture by the Bee Keepers' Farmer Producer Organization (FPO) on marketing strategies and collective bargaining models under the guidance of Dr. Rupinder Kaur, Associate Director of the Skill Development Centre. The interactive session highlighted technology incubation opportunities and successful agribusiness strategies.

Mr. Gurinder Singh, CEO, and Mr. Sameer Gautam, Business Manager of NIDHI-TBI, assured the entrepreneurs of their registration as incubates and extended support in shaping their business ideas.
