Punjab Agricultural University’s Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Bahowal, Hoshiarpur, organized an in-service training programme on “Nutritious Recipes for Pregnant/Lactating Women and Young Children” for Anganwadi workers at its campus. The training aimed to equip participants with practical knowledge of healthy, nutrient-rich recipes to promote maternal and child health in their respective communities.
Dr. Sukhdeep Kaur, Assistant Professor (Home Science), conducted both theoretical and hands-on sessions, showcasing easy-to-prepare, nutritious recipes. Demonstrations included Ragi ladoos and Makhana ladoos sweetened with organic jaggery, Foxtail Millet (Kangni) Kheer, Vegetable Poha, and a Multi-Millet Mix snack. Emphasizing the use of nutrient-dense ingredients, Dr. Kaur highlighted the importance of balanced nutrition during pregnancy, lactation, and early childhood—a critical period for growth and development.
The Anganwadi workers actively participated in the interactive demonstrations, gaining valuable insights and practical skills to prepare and promote these recipes within their communities.
