PAU-KVK HOSHIARPUR CONDUCTS SKILL DEVELOPMENT TRAINING ON DAIRY FARMING

PAU -Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Bahowal, Hoshiarpur, under the aegis of Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana, and ICAR-ATARI, Zone-I, successfully organized a 10-day vocational training programme on dairy farming from December 2 to December 16, 2024. The training aimed to promote subsidiary occupations and enhance the skills of 31 participants, including farmers, farm women, and rural youth.
Inaugurating the session, Dr. Maninder Singh Bons, Associate Director (Training), KVK, Bahowal, Hoshiarpur, welcomed the participants and highlighted the services rendered by KVK for the upliftment of the farming community. He urged participants to adopt dairy farming as a subsidiary occupation to increase their income and improve their livelihoods.
The training programme featured comprehensive lectures and practical demonstrations led by Dr. Parminder Singh, Associate Professor (Animal Science), KVK, Hoshiarpur. Key topics included, Breeds of cows and buffaloes, are and management of dairy animals, Clean milk production techniques, Care of newborn calves, and Preparation of balanced cattle feed
Dr. Karnail Singh, Veterinary Officer from the Department of Animal Husbandry, Hoshiarpur, also addressed the trainees, providing insights into disease prevention and control in dairy animals. Additionally, he shared information on government schemes designed for the welfare of dairy farmers.
The training programme received positive feedback from participants, reflecting the practical value and relevance of the knowledge shared.
