The Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Patiala successfully organized a five-day vocational training programme on "Integrated Training in Home Science" from December 12 to 18, 2024. The programme was attended by 36 farm women and farmers from villages such as Masingan, Rurki, Sadnauli, and Kalyan in Patiala district.

Dr. Gurupdesh Kaur, Professor (Home Science), demonstrated various techniques for embellishing decorative clothes, including hand embroidery stitches, fabric painting, and hand knitting. Ms. Puja Sharda provided training on creating ornamental articles such as pillow covers and table runners, equipping participants with creative skills for household and commercial use.

In addition to Home Science topics, Dr. Rachna Singla, Professor (Horticulture), shared insights on nutrition gardening and fruit plant cultivation, encouraging participants to enhance their dietary diversity and income potential. Dr. Rajni Goel, Professor (Food Science & Technology), inspired participants to prepare value-added products from seasonal fruits and vegetables, opening avenues for entrepreneurial ventures.

A highlight of the programme was a motivational session by Ms. Harjeet Kaur, President of Baba Puran Dass Ji Self-Help Group (SHG), Rorewal, who shared her journey of creating value-added fashion products, inspiring participants to explore similar opportunities.

On the final day, Dr. Gurupdesh Kaur encouraged participants to strive for self-reliance by starting their own businesses in garment making and decoration.
