The Punjab Agricultural University (PAU)-Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Fatehgarh Sahib, successfully concluded a five-day vocational training programme on value addition of winter horticultural crops held from December 16 to 20, 2024.

Dr Vipan Kumar Rampal, Associate Director (Training), KVK Fatehgarh Sahib, highlighted the importance of such training programmes, emphasizing that skill development and entrepreneurial ventures are critical for increasing farmers’ income and making agriculture more profitable.

During the training, Dr. Manisha Bhatia, Assistant Professor (Home Science), provided hands-on demonstrations on preparing value-added products such as amla pickle, amla murabba, amla candy, apple jam, and tomato sauce. These demonstrations equipped the participants with practical skills in value addition, enabling them to produce nutritious and healthy food items at home.

The training not only focused on improving household nutrition but also motivated participants to use their newly acquired skills to start their own enterprises, enhancing their income and contributing to the local economy.
