PAU CONDUCTS TRAINING ON FABRIC VALUE ADDITION AND ESTABLISHMENT OF NUTRITION GARDENS

The Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), under the All India Coordinated Research Project on Women in Agriculture (AICRP-WIA), organized two impactful training programmes aimed at skill development and nutritional health promotion.
A training session on ‘Value Addition of Fabrics’ was conducted by Dr Prerna Kapila, a Scientist in the Department of Apparel and Textile Science, PAU, at village Paddi Khalsa, Goraya. The program focused on enhancing block and screen printing skills, equipping 25 farm women with techniques to add value to fabrics and explore potential entrepreneurial opportunities. Dr Aditi Sewak, a Young Professional in the College of Community Science, assisted in organizing the programme.
Under the Nutri-Smart Village Programme (NSV) of AICRP, another training programme on the ‘Establishment of Nutrition Garden’ was held at Pioneer International School, Rurka Kalan, Phillaur. Dr. Kapila delivered a lecture on the benefits of growing and consuming vegetables from home gardens. She encouraged school students to establish gardens, emphasizing how they can provide fresh, nutrient-rich produce for maintaining good health.
